Job Description

Power of Sight Foundation is a faith based nonprofit serving students across all of Los Angeles County. Through our Sight for Success program, we bring licensed optometrists directly onto school campuses to provide eye exams and prescribe glasses for students who otherwise would not receive care.

We pre screen the entire student body prior to each visit and return with the appropriate number of doctors and equipment to efficiently examine students who failed screening. Our mobile lab allows us to deliver streamlined, organized, high impact care in a single school day.

This is a per diem independent contractor opportunity. You choose when you work. We send our monthly calendar and you sign up for the dates that fit your schedule. No evenings. No practice management. Just clinical care and meaningful impact.

Office

Power of Sight is not a traditional brick and mortar clinic. We go to the patient.

We partner directly with school districts, nurses, and administrators throughout Los Angeles County to remove vision barriers to learning. Our model is structured, efficient, and mission driven. We focus on preparation, communication, and execution so doctors can focus on patient care.

We are scaling across LA County with a refined system that allows us to serve hundreds of students in a single day while maintaining quality, compassion, and professionalism.

If you want to use your license to directly impact a child’s ability to read, learn, and succeed in the classroom, this is the place to do it.

Candidate Description

We are looking for optometrists who are:

• Efficient and confident in high volume pediatric exams

• Comfortable working in a mobile, school based environment

• Compassionate with children from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds

• Clear communicators with students, parents, and school staff

• Adaptable and team oriented

• Mission aligned and service minded

This role is ideal for doctors who want flexibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to serve without the stress of running a private practice.

Candidate Requirements

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree

• Active California optometry license in good standing

• Professional liability insurance

• Ability to pass DOJ and FBI Live Scan background clearance for school site access

• Experience with pediatric exams preferred
