Lee Eye Center - a leading eye care practice in Hermitage, PA is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Residency Trained Optometrist to join our team!   1. Comprehensive Eye Examinations: Perform thorough eye examinations including visual acuity testing, refractions, binocular vision assessments, slit-lamp examinations, tonometry, and fundus evaluations. Diagnose and manage ocular diseases and conditions, including but not limited to glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and dry eye syndrome.

  2. Pre- and Post-operative Care: Collaborate with the ophthalmologists and surgeons in the practice to provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing ocular surgeries.

  3. Patient Education and Counseling: Communicate effectively with patients to educate them about their eye health, treatment options, and proper eye care practices. Address patient concerns and answer questions regarding their diagnoses, treatment plans, and visual correction options.

  4. Electronic Health Records (EHR) Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records for each patient encounter, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and meaningful use criteria.

  5. Collaboration and Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other eye care professionals, including ophthalmologists, opticians, and technicians, to provide comprehensive and coordinated patient care.

Candidate Description

Candidate Requirements


  1. Education and Licensure: Completion of a Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry program. Possess a valid and unrestricted optometry license in the state of Pennsylvania or eligible for licensure.

  2. Residency Training: Successful completion of an accredited optometry residency program with a focus on ocular disease, cornea, or related specialty.

  3. Clinical Competence: Demonstrated proficiency in performing comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosing and managing ocular diseases, fitting and managing contact lenses, and providing pre- and post-operative care. Experience with specialty testing and imaging technologies is preferred.

  4. Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish rapport with patients and effectively collaborate with the multidisciplinary team. Empathy, professionalism, and a patient-centered approach are essential.

  5. Adaptability and Initiative: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, handle a diverse patient population, and manage multiple tasks efficiently. Proven ability to stay updated with the latest advancements in optometry and pursue continuing education opportunities.

  6. Compliance and Ethics: Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards related to optometry practice. Adhere to professional and ethical guidelines set forth by the state board of optometry.
