Associate Optometrist – Part-Time / Full-time – Private Practice – Ithaca, NY

Job Description

Whole Picture Health & Vision is a boutique private practice in Ithaca, NY focusing on primary eyecare, neuro-optometric rehab, pediatrics, specialty contact lenses and ocular disease.  WPHV began serving Ithaca and the surrounding region over 40 years ago as the practice of Larry Wallace OD, PhD.  Our motto is, “See the whole picture, treat the whole person.”  We believe in a multidisciplinary approach to healthcare that combines traditional techniques with vision therapy, optometric phototherapy, physical therapy, and holistic considerations such as diet and lifestyle.

WPHV was incorporated in 2019 when Dr. Tanya Bloom OD and her husband Matt relocated to Ithaca from New York City to purchase and modernize the practice.  Dr. and Mr. Bloom worked for over a year to renovate the practice building, implement and transition to an EHR system, drive practice growth through online marketing, create an industry-leading web presence, and establish a reputation for excellence among our peers and patient population.  In the past 7 years, our practice has grown tremendously and shows no sign of slowing.

As an optometrist in our practice, your duties will include the following:

• Perform comprehensive eye exams
• Conduct vision therapy evaluations (if applicable)
• Prescribe corrective lenses
• Collaborate with other optometrists, therapists and support staff
• Promote healthy vision by counseling and educating patients
• Conduct community outreach at local schools, colleges and universities
• Maintain detailed electronic patient records
• Work towards practice growth initiatives in Ithaca and beyond
• Become the best doctor you can be through continuing education, specialization and professional networking

Candidate Requirements

• Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree
• Valid NY state license to practice optometry
