Job Description

Come and join Fritz and Hawley and its awesome growing team in Hamden, Connecticut! Our doctor of 30 years is retiring and we would love to have a caring and compassionate Optometrist come in and continue to provide the excellent care and service our patients have come to know and love. This is a great opportunity for new grads and/or establishes optometrists looking for a new opportunity to grow their patient base. Currently we are the oldest optical shop in CT, working on bringing forth modernization and cultivating a warm, family environment in our Hamden location. We currently have a one-lane office to support a full time Optometrist and are equipped to provide comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens examinations, and medical office visits. We pride ourselves on excellent patient care and always look to put the patient experience first. We look forward to finding a licensed Optometrist to join our team at Fritz and Hawley!

Candidate Description

We pride ourselves on the patient experience offered at Fritz and Hawley. Whether it's making sure every patient leaves knowing they've had their questions answered or just taking the time to chat about their day, we make sure to put our patients first. When it comes to looking for the right fit, we want not only a skilled and intellectual doctor, but also someone who can connect with our community of patients and continue to deliver warmth with each and every eye examination. 


  • Perform comprehensive eye examinations
  • Diagnose defects of the eye, such as refractive error, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy
  • Provide personalized corrective solutions to sight issues based on each patient’s specific needs
  • Prescribe medications, eyeglasses and contact lenses
  • Advise patients on proper eye care techniques
  • Keep updated and accurate electronic medical records for all patients
  • Assist in training patients on how to use and maintain their contact lenses
  • Refer to eye doctors and ophthalmologists when patients need to undergo a surgery or in cases of severe eye injuries


  • Customer service experience is a must!
  • In-depth understanding of eye conditions and vision defects
  • Hands-on experience with eye examination tools, such as ophthalmoscope and tonometer
  • The ability to explain medical terms simply and calmly
  • Attention to detail
  • Degree in Optometry - open to recent Grads as well
