Job Description
We are seeking therapeutic optometrist(s) to join our optometry and multi-specialty ophthalmologist hospital based practice. Most of our optometrists see 25-30 patients a day with assistance from certified ophthalmic technicians.
Office
We have a current staff of 3 full time optometrists at our main clinic and 1 full time optometrist at a satellite office. Our main clinic also has 13 ophthalmologists including sub-specialties in cornea, retina, glaucoma, refractive surgery, pediatrics, oculoplastics and neuro-ophthalmology and a very friendly collegial relationship. We are also faculty at Baylor College of Medicine -Temple campus and interact with ophthalmology residents and medical students. Epic EMR is being used for records and Dax Copilot available as AI scribe available.
M-F only, no call required. 401(k)/457 (f) savings plan with employer contribution. Continuing Education fund yearly ($4250)
Candidate Description
The ideal optometrist is someone who desires to work in a primarily medical-based optometric practice. Often, a patient's initial eye care visit at the hospital will be with a member of the optometric staff. The optometrist must be able to examine patients efficiently and triage any significant diseased to the appropriate ophthalmologist. As a hospital with an ophthalmology residency, there specific academic requirements, including attendance at grand rounds presentations, journal club meetings, and teaching ophthalmology residents.
Candidate Requirements
Texas Optometric Glaucoma Specialist license
American Board of Optometry or Fellow of American Academy of Optometry (This can be obtained after employment begins)
