Job Description

The beautiful Lakes Region of New Hampshire is the ultimate balance of work and play. At Reed Optical, a multi-location group practice in Claremont and Sunapee, NH, we're looking for an optometrist to join our group. We maintain a patient focused attitude, scheduling ample time to allow relationship building and quality care for all. Our patients' have trusted the care at Reed Optical for over 40 years, and the recent upgrades and renovations have fueled expansion in the last 10 years. 

Optometrist Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct eye exams using optometric equipment and general diagnostic interpretation.
  • Diagnose and treat ocular disease
  • Prescribe, fit, and adjust eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids.
  • Recommend appropriate patient follow-up and care options.
  • Answer questions and provide advice to patients regarding vision and optical issues/solutions
  • Deliver outstanding customer service through all patient interactions
  • Direct staff and assist in the development of the overall practice

The perfect candidate will be TPA/g certified, comfortable with seeing 2-3 routine optical, contact lens, and medical exams per hour, with or without technician support; they will understand their effect on practice culture, valuing and helping to maintain an enjoyable, team based work environment. Using current medical testing equipment, such as OCT, Topography, VF and Photography, you'll be able to practice to the full scope of your license on patients from age 2-100!

Office

We care about our patients and staff. We really do. Every one of our processes and procedures are developed with patient care, flow and comfort in mind. Our staff enjoy their time in office, ensuring patients consistently have a great experience!

We do not overbook our schedule, allowing a full 30 minute block for each comprehensive exam. Medical add on appointments are limited to one per hour, allowing our doctors and staff to focus on patient needs. Patients feel relaxed, not rushed through the exam and eyewear selection process.

Candidate Description

In addition to the skills listed below, the ideal candidate will have a desire to know their patients and their staff. Our doctors don't stop with generating a prescription, they make optical recommendations to solve their problems/complaints. As such, to be successful in our practice, a candidate will need to be comfortable with making these recommendations (optical training is provided for those in need).

  • Applied understanding of general principles of optometry and best practices for the diagnosis and treatment of eye-related disorders and conditions
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to patients of diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • General computer proficiency
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and multitasking ability

Candidate Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry program
  • Active state optometry license
  • Valid CPR certificate
