Job Description
Garfield Health Center (GHC), a well-established Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving the San Gabriel Valley for over 40 years, is seeking a full-time optometrist to join our team at our Rosemead location. We have four clinic locations—two in Monterey Park, Rosemead, and Rowland Heights. We are expanding our optometry services with a brand-new clinic at Rosemead, in addition to our current optometry clinic in Monterey Park. This position offers competitive pay ranging from $68–$78 per hour and the opportunity to provide high-quality, medically focused care to underserved communities.
This role allows you to practice full-scope medical optometry in a collaborative, interdisciplinary setting alongside family medicine, pediatrics, dentistry, behavioral health, OB/GYN, chiropractic, acupuncture, and social work. Our patient base is clinically diverse, with a high prevalence of ocular and systemic disease. Workflow is manageable, with an average of 12–14 patients per day. Saturday availability is required.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive and problem-focused medical eye exams for patients of all ages
- Manage ocular diseases including diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and dry eye
- Provide urgent eye care for walk-in patients
- Collaborate with other disciplines to coordinate patient care and manage referrals
- Refer as needed to ophthalmology and optometric subspecialties
- Order and interpret diagnostic testing as appropriate, including OCT, visual field testing, and corneal topography
- Advocate and promote healthy eye habits and preventive eye care to patients
Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree
- Active California optometry license with glaucoma certification
- Bilingual in Chinese and English required
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a medical optometry setting
- Pediatric experience
- Dry eye management
