Job Description
We are looking for a full-time optometrist to likely split time between our two offices. The doctor needs to be comfortable managing ocular disease with an average daily exam load of approximately fifteen to twenty patients, with exams typically running every half hour. Currently, we are not open on weekends, and the doctor would work four full days and one half day during the week, though hours can be discussed further on a case-by-case basis. We prefer someone with an ownership mentality who is interested in becoming a partner after a few years as an associate, but we would also consider hiring an associate who is not necessarily interested in ownership.
Office
We are a medically oriented, two location practice in central Illinois with three doctor/owners currently. We see a heavy load of adult primary care that includes managing ocular diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataract pre and post-op care, keratoconus, and more. To help us manage and treat these conditions, we utilize state of the art technology including OPTOMAP widefield fundus imaging, OCT angiography, ERG, digital refraction, and more. We also treat and manage a lot of dry eye using the Oculus Keratograph 5m for workups and offering advanced in-office treatment with Tear Care meibomian gland clearance and IPL. The practice is also branching more into childhood myopia management with orthokeratology, MiSight contact lenses, and diluted atropine. We are currently in the process of designing a larger home office in Charleston, which will be approximately 7000 sq ft with nine exam lanes and a separate procedure room.
Our home office is located in Charleston, Illinois with the secondary office in Mattoon, Illinois. Charleston is the home of Eastern Illinois University and Fox Ridge State Park. Fox Ridge offers hiking trails, picnic opportunities, access to the Embarras River for kayaking, hunting, camping, and more. Other local attractions include Lake Charleston, which offers hiking, fishing, kayaking, and more, as well as Lincoln Log Cabin, an 86-acre park home to the replica of Thomas Lincoln's (President Lincoln's father) log cabin home.
Candidate Description
An ideal candidate would be an optometrist who enjoys forming personal relationships with patients, as well as one who is committed to upholding the highest level of ethics, both in business and patient care. We are looking for a doctor who is a self-starter who is willing to bring new ideas and skills to the office to promote growth and better care for our patients. The doctor needs to be a good team member with the ability to effectively communicate ideas to both doctors and staff members.
