The optometrist will work collaboratively with the optical team to elevate the member service experience with a high level of patient-focused care. Candidate Description
Job Duties/Essential Functions
- Perform thorough, comprehensive eye exams in accordance with standard of care protocols
- Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses and other visual aids or therapy to correct visual issues and help members see their best
- Diagnose, manage and treat ocular disease including prescribing medications (within the state’s scope of practice)
- Provide advice to patients regarding eye health, vision and optical issues
- Recommend appropriate patient follow-up and eye care options.
- Create positive doctor–patient relationships while delivering outstanding member service and patient experience in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to stay on top of new eye care equipment & technology and current standards of practice
Candidate Requirements
Optometrist Job Requirements & Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree
- Valid state license to practice optometry
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of patient personalities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A strong sense of workplace professionalism and personal ethics
- Customer-service orientation with excellent interpersonal skills
